It appears summer has finally arrived in the UK – hooray! I had to try not to complain about the heat as I navigated the delayed and cancelled trains in and out of London this week. Transport aside, a burst of vitamin D makes us feel so much better, and seeing the shift in people’s moods has been lovely. I loved wandering through Soho Square Gardens late in the afternoon, full of people sunbathing, reading, and having impromptu picnics. I hope you are keeping cool when needed. I appreciate that not everyone does or can enjoy the sun. We all have different seasons that make us feel positive and boost our Mental Wealth.
I always feel torn in July and August when my corporate client delivery naturally slows down with the school holiday calendar. My body wants to lie in the sun or shade, relax, snooze, and while away the hours. On the other hand, my brain is itching with the glorious headspace I’m given to mull over ideas, create content and get ahead of the September back-to-school vibe. It’s been some time since I’ve effectively used this headspace, as I’ve moved home every year in the last four years – something for another newsletter.
In this week’s Coffee with Coops, I am keeping it light with some exciting key updates on events and training. I have been working on a long-form article for you on radical responsibility, a topic I have noticed coming up in the last few months. It is not quite ready so it will be with you next week.
Co-work Tuesdays in July with Coops
There is no catchy marketing name for this. As you may know from my previous posts, I have ADHD (hyperactivity/impulsivity type), which means all this wonderful time ahead for me in summer will disappear into the ether very quickly if I don’t find ways to hold myself accountable. This is really for me as much as it helps you!
Body doubling is a powerful technique in which at least two individuals work together to enhance each other’s productivity. This method is regularly shared as beneficial for those with ADHD (although little research still explains this). It can be a game-changer for anyone struggling with procrastination and task management.
Most of July will be spent working from home alone on projects, content, and writing. I am hosting FREE body doubling sessions for anyone who can join to keep me accountable.
💛 Tuesday starting from the 2nd of July
📆 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th
🕘 9 am -10 am BST
Register using the Zoom link below. This will give you access to all 5 dates, for which you do not need to register again. The meeting room will be capped at 100 people.

There will be five minutes to let everyone in the room and pop our intentions into the chat. You can bring your emails to power through client projects, writing, reports, headspace time, journaling - whatever you need to accomplish. We then go on mute and power through. Then, we do a five-minute check-in at the end of the chat.
I hope to see you there for as many sessions as you can!
Mental Health First Aid Training
Finally, the new MHFA England Refresher training is here!! It has been a long time coming, as I have been delivering the refreshed previous 2-day Adult MHFA training, now known as MHFAider® training, since late 2022. This one was well overdue for a makeover.
As an MHFAider, you must keep your certificate up to date every three years to continue accessing all the fantastic benefits and support offered by the newly launched MHFA Association.
I am delivering a one-off open-invitation MHFA Refresher training if you need to refresh your certificate.
📆 25th July 2024
⏰ 9.30 am – 1.30 pm BST
💻 Teams
💰£150 pp plus VAT.
The link is here to book your spot.
Here is what someone said about my last open MHFA Refresher training in May.
As always, Ruth's delivery is authentic, credible, and compassionate - it was nice to be with colleagues but also have a mix of other companies for different knowledge. Thank you so much :-)
The MHFAider® Training
Has it been forever since you did your original MHFA training? In that case, you might want the full experience to become recertified. If you want to attend the training yourself, or if you are reading this and are responsible for booking training in your business and need one or a few people trained instead of a full in-house cohort, then I have you covered.
Again, it is rare that I deliver open-invitation training. However, with the launch of the MHFA Association and the importance of undertaking your refresh every three years, I thought running an open session ahead of autumn would be a good opportunity for those who want to train as Mental Health First Aiders, and I LOVE delivering this course.
Until 1st August, I am offering an early bird price of £300 pp plus VAT, which will increase to the standard price of £350 pp plus VAT.
📆 10th and 11th September
⏰ 9.30 am – 5.30 pm BST

Here is what someone said about my last online MHFAider® training.
Thank you, Ruth; I learnt so much from this course! Many good tips about being a Mental Health First Aider, good vocabulary tools as well (coping strategies, giving support/information, ALGEE, self-care and escalate a situation when necessary). The course was interactive, with different supports, and being split into small groups was very good for us to work together on becoming good MHFAiders. I recommend this course 100%, and I am very grateful to both my firm and the MHFAider England program for giving us this opportunity to become an ally / give support to people suffering from a mental health condition.
I am spending my summer working on my Substack as there is much I want to do in my little space here. I have many creative ideas for supporting you with your Mental Wealth and how to build and invest in this community. Watch this space as it evolves; any feedback or what you would like to see more/less of is very welcome.
I will be back next week with your article on radical responsibility!
I hope to see you in the Zoom room on Tuesday at 9 am.
Until then, take it easy and enjoy the final few days of June.
