Congratulations Ruth🎙✨🎧

It's amazing, isn't it, when we reach back to what we loved to do in our childhood, and it makes us realise it's what we truly want to do in life. I've had some 'rip the band-aid' off and jump in feet first

experiences, and each one has turned out to be the best thing I've ever done. Wishing you lots of good luck!

Ahh, thank you so much, Emma. Yes definitely. I love how you have put "reach back" because that is exactly how it feels. I love the rip-off band-aid metaphor. It is a good one, and I am so pleased they worked for you. All the luck is kindly received, thank you 🤗.

Hilarious that you were late for the interview due to meditating in preparation! 😂😂

Gahhhhhhhh amazing stuff and all of my congratulations and best wishes on the airwaves - I’m sure you will have it nailed. I’ll have a think about my wildest dreams - some of them have been realised, some of them still sit on the shelf. Love the point you make about a job for life being the graveyard for dreams..

Thank you, Una, for your lovely support 🫶. Ooh, what ones have been realised, and I would love to hear about those on the shelf too. I think the idea of a job for life has probably died itself a bit now, and I know there is nothing wrong with wanting that, but I grew up in an area where that was a big thing or the aspiration to get into one of the big corporations. It was seen as dangerous to dream anything else.

Ok, here goes.. finally feeling brave at last! 👍 Like many people, when I was growing up I had lots dream jobs... one of which was to be a figure skater! 🙈😆 We didn't have the money required for lessons, so when I tried at long last to learn to skate in my 30's, it was very quickly apparent I wasn't built for it.. let's just say my balance isn't great and I'm a bit "clunky" on the ice. I had to admit defeat after I fell and badly damaged both of my knees - something about a medial meniscus tear in both of them 😩 and yes it really bloody hurt! I'd even bought a pair of these ⛸️ and everything! 🤣

Anyway, other dreams have included.. singer, actress, artist, pilot, editor of a magazine and a writer. Well, it turns out at least one of these is actually coming true. I've been assured many times since starting my Substack that I am indeed a writer, but it has taken me a long time to actually believe this to be true. But, now that I have written a children's book and started on another non-fiction book, I finally feel able and proud to call myself a writer! 👏 Just writing that still makes me cringe, but I am working on it.

Thank you Ruth for gently nudging me out of my comfort zone 🥰

YES to all of this. It made me so chuffed when I read it the other day. Thank you for being brave enough to step up and share. I'm so glad you did, and then you shared that beautiful sketch of a lion 🦁💛 I think you are braver than you think!! I went on a date ice skating at the start of this year, as I wanted to be an ice skater! Those injuries sound bloody painful 😣. You are 💯 a writer my love x

I dreamed of having a regular column in a newspaper or magazine. Agony aunt/how to flourish type thing. Your articles brought that dream back to me and I will now go look at the options! Even if I make the column myself in a newsletter on Substack!

YES, to both of those. I hope you have started to act on this, Elizabeth. Do let me know. I love the idea of an agony aunt style for Substack. I'm glad it brought your dreams back to you 💛.
